The fried clutch meant we had to tow it to Jan's place, where I was going to do the engine swap and all. So we drove to Lekkum once again in cheap transportation. After going thru the paperwork, the car was mine and all we had to do was tow it home. That didn't really go as planned. I started the engine to keep the battery topped up with the lights on. After the engine warmed up, I was greeted by a small cloud of blue smoke. Okay, so the 1.4 engine needs valve seals... never mind, we were going to replace it anyway. I would've appreciated the previous owner telling me, but oh well...

Viewed from this angle, the Volvo seems huge... actually it's not much bigger than the 309.

While driving thru Leeuwarden, the tow rope broke and we were stuck close to a busy intersection. Oops. A good knot got us to the nearest gas station where another rope was purchased. The knot held up, but to be safe we used the new rope anyway. The old one didn't really break, only the end came off the hook. On the highway, the Volvo's LPG setup was acting up, refusing to pull the Peugeot fast enough to get home before dusk. So we had to switch back to petrol. Other than that, we got home safely.

Couldn't resist putting the spare in the trunk and putting the good wheel with hubcap back on the car. With the hubcap back on, the fender damage doesn't catch the eye as much as it did without. Why I put the spare in the trunk and not in the rack? Well, the spare wheel rack put up a fight and I gave up...
